Beginner Tips
on
Halcyon Days at Taoyuan
- You can easily increase your forestry by spam-picking the dandelions at the Lis. I did this before I finished the first quest.
- Turn off the minigames from settings if you find it annoying.
- Every time you level up ANY skill, your health and stamina will reset. So make sure to watch your experience and use this for utilizing unlimited health and stamina as you can.
- Talk to Wan Huan for additional side quests (rumor chosen)!
- Use your shovel to dig holes on the beach. Easiest loot ever!
- Dont forget to pick fruits from the trees. Look carefully at the trees all over Taoyuan village! (for example, peach at crossroad, also coconut at the beach)
- ALWAYS CONTRIBUTE! The box to contribute is located near the chess stone. You will get contribution voucher which is the 'currency' of the game.
- Don't forget to DASH! It's not much of speed, but at least you reach your destination a bit faster.
- This game doesn't have any currency. You trade, so make sure to value your item before trading.
- The mine has boss after the hero statue.
- Hate the sun? Hate withered crops? RESTART THE GAME UNTIL YOU GET THE RAIN OR FIELD FULL OF HEALTHY CROPS! 💙
- Use special fish, pearl clam to reveal the treasures inside! (all kind of treasure item)
- Process your animal food by borrowing the animal food processor behind Yue Hongdi's tea gazebo for free.
- Tame animals as soon as possible, because owning animals will grant you status.

2. Tomb sweeping day (26 spring)
Unlike other festival, Tomb sweeping is not bound by time, so you have to pay attention when the villagers move to the bamboo grove, tomb area. This 'festival' is annual tomb cleaning. Interacting with everyone will have a chance to get Qingtuan (11 max).
3. Dragon Boat Festival (5 Summer)
Dont forget to pick some Zhizu on the table. Pick whichever characters you like, because if you won, your friends will get increased heart too!

Quests:
I will tell you how to solve the quest. If you're unsure about the location, hit M (open map) and point your mouse at the building. You will see what family resides on the building.
- A new look :
- Go to Liu Chulan's home (The Zhus/Kit trade)
- You will get Crude Lantern. Equip it so you dont have to walk in the darkness.
- A Grumbling stomach:
- Go to Tavern (Long's home). You will be asked to get 10 wheat flour and 10 fish, activating The Art of Cooking, Aquatic Delicacies and Food Feeds People quest.
- After solving Aquatic Delicacies and Food Feeds People, you will get Land Nurtures Food and The Silent Angler quest.
- Plant 10 wheat seed you got from the Jiang Zhengyang. Give the wheats to Jiang Zhengyang to solve the quest.
- Mill your wheat by using millstone beside the house.
- Fish 10 fish and give it to Xiao Yuanyi.
- With fish and wheat flour in hand, you go back to the Tavern (Long's home) to finish this quest.
- All of these quests grant you: 10 Wheat Seeds, 10 Basic Soil Stabilizer, 5 Scallion Seeds, 5 Ginger Seeds, 5 Garlic Seeds, 1 Novice Fishing Rod, 10 Basic fish bait
- The quiet fisher:
- After you're finished with the silent angler quest, quiet fisher will automatically start once you step out of the boat house. Go to the bamboo grove and see Zhang Linghu playing a flute.
- This quest will lead to Cold Exterior, Warm Heart quest and Warm Exterior and Heart quest. Head to the mine where the Shengs are.
- Sheng Wuqiang will tell you that he needs 30 copper ore to make the axe.
- After you deliver 30 copper ore to Sheng Wuqiang, he will send your axe with the courier pigeon in 2 days. Use the axe to cut bamboo at the Bamboo Grove. Give the bamboo to Xiao Dalan.
- In these quests, you will get Pickaxe (if you dont bring pickaxe at mine entrance), Wooden Sword (given at the mine).
- This quest will also unlock Ore Stockpiling quest. After you give 100 ores to Sheng Wuqiang, you can pick Copper Bucket, Copper Pickaxe, or Copper Hoe as the gift.
- Livestock keeping:
- After you tame an animal, go outside the mine (where you meet Chu Youfeng with sword before). DON'T TELEPORT OUT (well, you can, but make sure to return to the mine). Youfeng will give you a blueprint for barn, then she asks you to ask Yue Houdi about livestock.
- This quest will open A Light Expansion quest, and All Things Have Spirit quest.
- Lu Zhen will ask you to plant 20 trees. You can purchase these trees on her shop by the forest or just cut the trees at the forest. You have to plant the tree seeds on the forest, NOT ON YOUR FARM.
- Once the chicken coop is done, go to Yue and he will give you chick.
- Netting at sea:
- Go to the beach and fish with Xiao Dalan. After this quest, you will get 5 Spanish Mackerel, 5 Prawn, 5 Scallop
- This quest will open Fishing Master quest. You only have to aim for rank B while netting. This quest gives you 10 Basic fish bait, 10 intermediate fish bait, and 10 premium fish bait.
- Fishing Master quest will open Legendary Fish quest.
- The Legend of Taoling:
- To trigger this quest, you have to do normal activity until you get Peach Pearl any version.
- Peach Pearl 1 = tilling farm
- Peach Pearl 4 = fishing
- Unusual Crop:
- When your farming skill reaches level 3, Jiang Zhenyang wants to talk to you. Meet him at his house. He will ask you to grow a golden crop. I can do this pretty easily by trading Super Quality Enhancer at Jiang Zhenyang, use the enhancer before I plant some seeds.
- Once you've finished growing one, show him your golden crop. He will ask you to pick Compost Bin Blueprint or Millstone Blueprint. I pick the compost bin because well.. millstone is free.
- Mythical Beast:
- After you defeat Dangkang, you will get this quest. Go to the village chief's house (zhang) and he will ask you to look for more info at the Ancestral hall (Perusing Ancient Books quest). Going to the Ancestral Hall will activate the Hidden History quest.
- How to repay kindness:
- After you defeat Dangkang, Taoling will visit your dream, suggesting about shrine reparation. You go to Ancestral hall and Zhang will give you Lightning-Struck Wood quest, go to the Zhangs. It seems like the wood belongs to Huilong now, but he immediately give it to you. Even grandma Lu also gives you 300 SOFTWOODS! The last one is going to the Ancestral Hall once more, and the quest is finished. You wait until tomorrow.
- Five colored stone:
- After the first shrine is fixed, you will get this quest via pigeon courier. Go to the Shengs and learn that.. MA YAO USES THE STONE AS A PICKLE HOLDER XDXD so the next stuff is we go to the tavern and save the stone's miserable fate. The Sheng is also kind enough to give us 300 STONES! Off you go back to Ancestral hall.. only to see that Zhang likes the smell of the stone...
- Repairing the third shrine:
- After the second shrine is repaired, we go to the Ancestral hall on the next day. Zhang says we have to get ebony root from the wood cave. After defeating Lushu, you will get ebony root. Take it to the Ancestral hall.
- The art of brewing:
- Once you reach cooking level 3, Long Xizhi will send you a letter about brewing. Go to the tavern and learn.

Each quest will give you various amount of contribution voucher
- Sobering Moment: Bring Xia Yingjie 3 Giant River Prawn. Detail about this prawn's location is on the last page.
- A fruit a day: Bring Wu Xia 5 Peach. The crossroad has peach trees.
- Herbal tea to cool: Bring Li Jie'er 20 Dandelion. Get it at The Lis or at the forest.
- Grow naturally: Bring Zhang Linghu 10 little berry. Get it by cutting berries on your farm.
- Motherhood: Bring Wan Huan 10 manure. You can get manure by destroying monster or ranching.
- Unsolved Mystery: Bring Sheng Wenxiu 5 Ramie. Purchase Ramie seeds on the seed store.
- Old habits die hard: Bring Chu Yingzhuo 5 Raw jade. Raw jade can be gained on destroying stones or ores at the mine.
- A Farmer's obsession: Bring Jiang Zhengyang 1 Golden Wheat. Use an enhancer (trade from Jiang Zhengyang) before you plant wheat. hopefully you get golden wheat.
- Mind your teeth: Bring Zhu Baohua 2 Peach. The crossroad has peach trees.
- An old drunkard: Bring Zhang Wenchang 5 Rice seed. Purchase the seed at seed store.
- Fatherhood: Bring Su Kang 1 Fish Broth Noodles. After finishing Long Xizhi's first quest, you will get this recipe.
- Filial Piety: Bring Zhang Huilong 10 Fishwort. Get Fishwort on the lake.
- Material Shortage: Bring Lu Zhen 50 hay. Cut the grass on your farm to get hay.
- No rice no meal: Bring Xiao Dalan 5 Rice. Get rice seed from the seed store and plant it.
- Little Foodie: Bring Su Min 5 Grass Carp. Detail about this fish's location is on the last page.
- Kind Elder Sister: Bring Chu Muyue 5 Wheat Flour. Process your wheat on millstone to get wheat flour.
- Frustration: Bring Jiang Zhezhi 1 Prime Wheat Seed. Process your mature wheat inside crop cultivator to get Prime Wheat Seed.
- Armor for body and heart: Bring Chu Youfeng 1 Copper Armor. At the kit store, making copper Armor needs 200 copper ore and 100 contribution voucher.
- Long's preference: Bring Long Xizhi 1 Pearl. You can get pearl by opening Pearl Clam.
- Nice younger sister: Bring Chu Liuyun 3 Peach. The crossroad has peach trees.
- Sharp Tongue and Tender Heart: Bring Lin Yaqing 5 Ramie. Purchase Ramie seeds on the seed store
- Herbs needed: Bring Li Yong 5 Honeysuckle. You can get honeysuckle at the forest.
- Firewood benefactor: Bring Sheng Wuqiang 50 Softwood. You can get softwood at the forest, or just destroying woods on your farm
- The self reliant: Bring Ma Yao 50 copper ore. You can get copper ore inside the mine.
- Hidden treasures: Bring Xiao Yuanyi 5 special fish. You can get special fish by fishing... and luck.
- The crustacean hunt: Bring Diao Yun'er 3 Freshwater shrimp. You can get freshwater shrimp by fishing on the freshwater area.
- Eat more vegetables: Bring Liu Chulan 3 potato. You can grow potato from seed at seed shop.
- Kind Elder sister: Bring Chu Muyue 5 wheat flour. You can plant wheat, get the seed from the seed shop, then mill it on the millstone by the seed store.

How to tame animals and Pets' favorite food
- If the animals are the fierce kind, there will be a chance that they ask for mercy if their health drops below 10%. Give their favorite food to tame.
- Tiptoe on peaceful animal. If you're successful, there will be 'tame' icon on top of their heads. Give their favorite food to tame.
- If they like the food, there will be heart icon on top of their head when you feed them.

How to beat Dangkang in Halcyon Days at Taoyuan:I beat Dangkang with no upgrade on my sword. I did have pink boar for my defense. You can easily dodge dangkang since he's easy to read. Avoid the snout area. For three hits on his side, prepare to dodge. The video, however, shows halfway (I'm nervous when I'm battling boss while recording)

How to beat Lushu in Halcyon Days at Taoyuan:Manage a distance where you wont touch Lushu or get stomped. Cancel its recovery stance. Lushu is easier than Dangkang.
